The VITA standards group has existed for many years now, developing the VME, VXS, XMC, VPX, and VNX standards as common physical and electrical formats to enable the development of modular systems. In military systems, the need for using open-architecture systems approaches became a priority.

The Over time, the participants of these groups joined with the SOSA (Sensor Open Systems Architecture) Consortium to collaborate under the SOSA initiative, preferring the VPX standard as the workhorse for military embedded systems. This was later formalized under the MOSA Tri-Service Memorandum where all new programs across the branches must be designed under the open systems architecture approach delineated in SOSA.

The SOSA Consortium is responsible for creating a common framework for transitioning sensor systems to an open systems architecture and establishes guidelines for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems. The objective is to allow flexibility in the selection and acquisition of sensors and subsystems that provide sensor data collection, processing, exploitation, communication, and related functions over the full life cycle of the C4ISR system.

Multisphere SOSA Aligned / VITA62 MilVPX are designed by SOSA electromechanical guidelines and SOSA 3U and 6U Outputs and pinout. The MilVPX Power supplies are taking the new SOSA output configuration of “Heavy 12V” to the edge by delivering up to 800W in a 3U formfactor and 1.4KW in a 6U form factor, all at full temperature and input range. Our solutions also feature VITA 46.11 Tier II system management. The units are ruggedizing, design for durability and high thermal cycling.
You can find the power supplies in CC, AFB and AFT versions.
